Program Description:

Arcadia - U Melbourne Banner
Study abroad in the heart of the World’s most Liveable City

Ivy-covered walls, state-of-the-art facilities, and a five-minute walk to hundreds of restaurants and cafes - the University of Melbourne, one of Australia's leading institutions, is a popular choice among study abroad students. The University of Melbourne maintains its own clearly defined friendly, multicultural community and campus in the heart of the city.

You'll be amazed at the number of courses available to you. The Faculty of Arts alone has more than 400 subjects in 40 departments. Add to that other popular Faculties like Science, Engineering, and Commerce and Economics, and the hardest part will be deciding what to take. Additionally, the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) is a top school for art, photography, music, and dance; and the University's business school is AACSB-accredited.

There is a special service-learning opportunity available at Melbourne for students studying abroad for two semesters, either the southern hemisphere academic year (February - November), or the northern hemisphere Academic Year (July - June). The service-learning course, Community Volunteering for Change, will include an 80-hour placement in a non-profit organization as well as pre- and post-placement seminars facilitated by academic and professional staff at the University of Melbourne and representatives from various community NGOs.

  • The university is a member of the Group of Eight, which is a group of Australia's
    Leading Universities.

  • The VCA is part of an international consortium that includes the Julliard School in New York.

  • The University of Melbourne is an elite research university dedicated to discovery and innovation, evidenced by its affiliation with 100 research centers and institutes.

  • Generous scholarships are offered each semester that our students can apply for.

  • One of the best options in Australia for pre-med students.

  • Through “breadth subjects” you can study courses outside your core study area.

  • More than 200 clubs and societies are available for you to join.

Excursions & Activities

With Arcadia, you learn beyond the classroom. Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned excursions and activities. Arcadia Australia offers a wonderful array of excursions and activities impacted by the location of your program to bring you unique experiences. These excursions and activities range from urban locations, coastal regions, rural bushlands, rainforests, and tropical islands. They provide you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture, environment, traditions, and with the people of these places. You will try new foods, learn new skills, explore incredible places, and learn about the Indigenous peoples of Australia.

Our staff will help you look beneath the surface of everyday life and begin to understand what it means to be Australian. While we encourage you to engage with the culture through your course options, there’s also a world of learning beyond the classroom. All Arcadia excursions are designed to be fun and interactive learning opportunities. We’ll open the doors, but it’s up to you to grasp the opportunity and enjoy a life-changing experience. Our excursions are fun and interactive opportunities to visit places off the beaten track.
