Program Description:
Arcadia - Goldsmiths Banner

A vibrant, artistic atmosphere that cultivates a strong creative campus community

Goldsmiths’ urban location in New Cross, a diverse area tucked into southeast London, situates the university as a creative beacon in a neighborhood buzzing with a strong music and arts scene, eclectic cafés, and access to the city center. The campus melds historic industrial buildings with modern architecture—art is displayed in converted factory buildings, and an old church is now a performance venue. Learn from renowned faculty who combine theory with practice and work to create an open and broad-minded environment that fosters critical thinking. The university’s core strengths in the fine arts, media, and communications are noted by its long list of alumni who are established artistic professionals—including seven winners of the Turner Prize. Goldsmiths is also academically rich in art history, drama, sociology, psychology, and music; it has one of the largest music departments in Great Britain. Goldsmiths is a popular option for students because of its accepting, alternative culture—it may be the right choice for you, too.

  • Diversity runs right through the campus and the curriculum. Course texts were recently reviewed to ensure black and minority ethnic authors were represented in the creative curriculum.

  • New Internship Option: Replace one Goldsmiths course with an internship through Arcadia - add international professional experience to your resume. See the Internship Placement Guide for information about placement details.

  • Students studying at Goldsmiths for one semester are guaranteed housing in Loring Hall (single, en-suite rooms) which is a two-minute walk from the campus.

  • You’ll easily make friends through the Student’s Union, where you’ll find a series of planned activities, on-campus entertainment, and student clubs and societies. Since Goldsmiths is a constituent college of the federal University of London system, you are also welcome to use the Student Central in central London — equipped with recreational facilities, shops, a live entertainment venue, and a bar and restaurant.

Excursions & Attractions
