London Summer Internship Pre-Departure Guide
 

Comprehensive fee:

Summer 2017 fee: $8,500 
Included in the comprehensive fee:
  • 8 academic credits
            -Hollins Abroad 4-credit course, Contemporary Britain (POLS 200L)
            -a 4-credit internship
  • Seven-week CAPA internship as part of the complete experiential learning program
  • Housing in a student residence hall (single room with en-suite shower/bathroom) OR with London hosts in their home
    • Please note: Rooms in the student residence hall will be first-come, first-served after acceptance to the program and must be secured with the $2,000 program deposit. 
  • On-site director and support through both Hollins Abroad and CAPA
  • On-site orientation including a tour of London with a certified Blue Badge Guide
  • Comprehensive medical insurance through Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI)
  • Group weekend excursion 
  • Transportation pass

Contemporary Britain (POLS 200L), 4 credits

This course will begin with an examination of the principal institutions and behavior patterns of British politics, including the structure of government and the interaction of voters, parties, and leaders. We will then address several current or controversial issues which have a marked impact on the political world in Britain, including the Monarchy, religion, class, and immigration. Finally, Britain's unique role in the European Union will be analyzed. Field trips will include visits to Parliament and other relevant sites.
 

Please Note:

  • This program is open only to rising juniors and rising seniors. 
  • Due to the structure of the program, students are not permitted to repeat the program.
