Program Description:

SIT Study Abroad Nepal: Virtual Nepali Language (All Levels)

NOTE: SIT will make every effort to maintain its programs as described. To respond to emergent situations, like COVID-19, SIT may have to modify programs.

Build your Nepali language skills with a nine-week online course taught by experienced Nepali language instructors.

OVERVIEW

This Nepali language program is designed to immerse you in Nepali language, culture, and food habits. Each interactive lesson builds your confidence and capacity to understand and speak the Nepali language. This nine-week online course is designed to combine both synchronous and asynchronous learning on grammar, sentence structure, and basic communication skills. Students who have a background in Nepali language will build on those skills to attain higher levels of speaking and comprehension.

Students will be expected to devote approximately 15 hours per week to this course over a nine-week period. The course schedule is flexible to accommodate a variety of student schedules and time zones and it integrates both synchronous and asynchronous activities. Synchronous sessions may include three hours per week with the language instructor(s) doing drills and practicing conversation. The frequency, duration, and scheduling of synchronous sessions will be determined together by instructors and class participants during the first week of the course.

Asynchronous activities may include approximately 10-12 hours per week on practice exercises, small group projects, discussion boards, and completing assignments. Students are required to demonstrate a strong online presence by participating in group discussions, answering questions, and interacting with course participants and staff.

Please visit the SIT Study Abroad website for details on the program highlights and details of coursework, educational excursions, and housing.
