Cambodia teaching community
Program Focus
Live in Siem Reap, a Cambodian region about five hours from the capital of Phnom Penh, perfecting your teaching skills while contributing directly to educational developments in the region as well as United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, #4 Quality Education. Improving the educational opportunities of students in Cambodia allows them to access future job opportunities, furthering the progress of UN SDG #8, Decent Work and Economic Growth. You might also conduct workshops in the local community centered around topics like preventative healthcare or gender equality, depending on the requests of the local community members and our partners, assisting with UN SDG #3, Good Health and Well-being, and #5, Gender Equality.

In the city of Siem Reap, we have joined efforts with local partner organisations to assess the needs within the community before setting up any of our projects. As such the core of our programmes are aimed at sustainably enhancing the educational facilities and English literacy levels of the community of Siem Reap. Through working with such a diverse range of students, participants will gain an insight into the educational system in Cambodia, and GVI’s work with the community to increase access to quality education. You will gain in-depth training in teaching and how to lead classes and activities.

Cambodia temple
Location
Experience the Kingdom of Cambodia with its captivating cultural history and iconic temples and monuments. Siem Reap is a hive of activity, where medieval architecture abuts lively markets, diverse restaurants and riverside hangouts. Further out from the city you can enjoy the stunning natural landscapes, filled with lush greenery, glistening rice paddies and waving sugar palms. Local non-governmental organisations in Cambodia have made massive strides during the past two decades in uplifting their communities. In 2017, we were contacted by a number of these organisations who focus on sustainable development to ask if we would be able to provide the kind of support they need to make their objectives a reality. By joining GVI as an intern Cambodia you will take an active role in improving the educational and community initiatives in Siem Reap.
